winter Fly fishing flathead river cutthroat trout glacier park

We’re not sure if we like the stache or the cutthroat better…

Fishing on the Flathead has been good. The river is still a bit high but in good shape. Standard winter type stuff is working well. Quite a few fish splashing at the indicator so you can try something big and indicator like, but that’s usually a fool’s errand. We have been spending most of our time hunting. We’ve had a few guide trips trickling in with the nicer than normal weather but for the most part we are in winter mode. Duck hunting, skiing, and a little two hander fly pole action are in the near future.

Hopefully you all enjoyed the holiday and had some success in the field.
