Home brews fresh from the vice.

It’s skwala season……In case you haven’t heard from every other fly blog in the state /northwest. Skwalas are one of the few patterns that are somewhat commercially limited. At least the good ones anyway. There are a ton of great salmon flies, hoppers, and attractors out there but not that many good skwala patterns. The top two are probably the Rogue Skwala and Silvey’s Little Olive Stone. It’s good to twist up a few of your own if you plan on getting after it. Especially on the Root where they have seen a TON of the commercial patterns. The store bought stuff works great on any given day but it’s nice to be able to cycle through 6-8 different patterns to find one they like. Sometimes that’s what it takes.
