Run-off season is here. The extended forecast is for highs near 80. The freestone rivers are all going to be out of shape for a while.  We will be fishing local lakes and the Missouri river until mid-June when the freestone rivers start to come back into shape. There are usually windows of opportunity during this timeframe to get on our freestone rivers as they come in and out of shape with weather fluctuations, it’s just not reliable and impossible to plan for – only mother nature knows when.

Lake fishing can be a blast this time of year. We have some big cutthroat, rainbows and grayling that are really fun to target, and they’ll eat dry flies when the conditions are right. We often get to do some site fishing for large fish that are cruising the shallows. It’s pretty entertaining visual stimulation. We also have some good smallmouth fishing. Sight fishing smallies with the fly rod is a hoot! We have several lakes that provide smallie action. We have a bunch of pike and bass flies in the shop for the DIY folks too. Store hours are still Thur-Sat 11-4 for now but we are there most days. Give us a call before you head in to make sure we are open.
