Winter Fly Fishing | Flathead Valley
Fishing can be quite good in the winter months. We have plenty of days with nice enough weather to get out on the water. Most often it’s just you, a few bald eagles, and some trout.
The Flathead River is the main resource we utilize for our winter fly fishing. Its close proximity to the popular towns in the Flathead Valley like Whitefish, Bigfork, and Kalispell make it a convenient option for a winter fly fishing outing.
Flathead River Winter Fly Fishing Guides
Fishing in the winter can be challenging if your not familiar with it. Finding the right type of water, depth, & flies isn’t quite as easy as the summer months. Slower, deeper, “boring” water is where you will usually find fish. But it’s not boring when you find them. Our guides are well versed in winter angling here on the Flathead River. They can show you the runs, techniques, depths, and what to look for when fishing in the cold months. Give us a call if you want to get out on the water this winter. We have a great group of guides who love taking folks out on the Flathead River in the winter months.
