The rain and cool weather have rid our skies of smoke. Hopefully it will last. It’s been absolutely perfect weather for fishing the last week. Mid upper 60’s and low 70’s are ideal for all day fishing comfort. You couldn’t ask for a better forecast for the coming week. Sunshine and 70’s…perfect.

Fishing has been good to great depending on the way the flies drift. Hoppers are still getting attention but tricos and tiny ants are in the mix providing some frustration at times. The mornings have been chili so the dropper has been helping out before 11ish. Mid sized parachute mayflies are hunting well too. Now that the fish have seen a few hecuba drakes it’s a good idea to include a cripple or parachute off the hopper, or just fish it solo. Moose tails, quigs, and the good old purple haze all will do the job. A #12 Parachute mayfly with a little ant off the back is a good combo for the afternoon if the hopper is getting enough love.  A #14 prince/p-tail, #12 turd, Micro tung worm, or one of the many filthy little tung jig nymphs we have in the bins will be what you want to throw off the hopper. The rivers are fairly quiet and the fishing has been pretty darn good. If you’re not off chasing elk with your bow you might think about floating the boat.

Big sale going on at the shop this week so stop in and check the deals.
