Hi 49 °F

Little Buddy and Dada got this one out of our secret local spring creek today.

General outlook: It’s starting to feel more like winter than fall. Wow that happened quick. There are still fishing opportunities out there but with lows in the 20’s you will want to focus your efforts to the warmest part of the day. Winter nymphing tactics will work through out the cold season and warmer days might provide some dry fly fishing in the afternoon with midges and BWOs for the remainder of the month on our western freestones. Stonefly nymphs, SJworms and standard BH attractors will be your friend for a while. Slow moving streamers on a sink tip will also produce through the winter months.

Whitefish legend Ben Corrum came by the shop a couple days ago with a photo of a fat bow he caught out of the Bay on a beadhead somethingorother. Swinging streamers on a small 2 hander sure is fun and can even be productive around town this time of year too. Maybe we’ll get lucky and get another dose of nice weather before winter really sets in.

Lake-run whities are in the river and fun on the fly if you can find them. Good eats too.
