The 2012 guide season officially kicked off today with our first trip of the season. Thanks Stan!! We hit the Main stem of the Flathead this afternoon and were pleasantly surprised. We had a SOLID 2+ hour window of dry fly fishing with lots of rising fish to target. Not many twinks rising either. All the fish were healthy 14-16″ cutts and a couple bows thrown in the mix.  It was a bit breezy but they continued to eat midges even with a little wind chop.  We bobbered up a few after they quit rising and the standard stonefly /worm combo produced best. The fish are definately concentrated in the winter water. Back eddies, slow insides, and soft seams had fish. The colder weather this week might put it off a bit but it was only a high of 38 today and it fished well.
