Bigfork Montana Fly Fishing – River Report

General Outlook:  Hopefully you made it out on the rivers this past week because the fishing has been good. Everything is now back on the rise and should be out of shape again for a little while. Snow-pack in many drainages is below average so look for things to come into shape much sooner this year.

Blackfoot River Report: The Blackfoot has been fishing good but is now coming up pretty hard. Keep an eye on the graph and wait for it to drop for a couple days.
Bugs / Fly Patterns: 20 incher stones, double bead stones, rubber legs, princes, San Juans, beadhead whatevers, urchin buggers, flash fry, skiddish smolt, sparkle minnows, but monkeys, sex dungeons…

Lower Clark Fork River Report: Back on the rise and will likely be out for a while.
Bugs / Fly Patterns: 20 incher stones, double bead stones, rubber legs, princes, San Juans, beadhead whatevers, urchin buggers, flash fry, skiddish smolt, sparkle minnows.

Flathead River Report: Mainstem and forks are on steep rise.

Swan River Report: The upper has been fishing well. It’s out now but will likely come back with the next cold weather snap at the end of the week. We’ll see. Lower is going to see a big increase in flow that might put it off a bit. The bay is always an option.
