Bigfork Montana Fly Fishing – River Report

High water bow.

The upper Swan has been fishable since the opener. It’s REALLY big and the fishing is tough but there have been a few quality fish that merit the effort. It’s raining hard and it’s going to be out again for a while but it was fun. We put together a great day on the Lower Swan  a few days ago as well. It seems like there are some big fish hanging in the spots. What spots? Well, they aren’t all obvious. Streamers and stonefly nymphs were productive.

The forecast is calling for heavy rain and it will likely kick run-off back into full swing. Salmon flies soon…
