NOAA was a bit off on their forecasted flows for this week. Near 90 degree day time highs kicked up the flows well beyond initial predictions and the rivers look like they’ll be out of shape for a bit. There’s also a monsoonal rain event heading our way so things could get ugly on the freestones for the near future. Hard tell’n not know’n… Although our freestone rivers are all blown-out and on the rise, it’s sure nice to see a bunch of water! The Missouri River will continue to be your best option for reliable fishing unless you don’t mind doing some lake fishing. We do have lots of lakes to fish in the area for bass, pike, greyling and rainbows. If you’re new to fly fishing, our lake fishing trips are having great success and the fishing is pretty easy for learning. If you’re looking for a more serious river outing you’ll want to head to the Missouri. Our trips over there are also having some great fishing. We’ve had some superb dry fly fishing recently and the short leash nymphing in the shallows has been stacking numbers. Give us a call if you want to chat about a trip.
