Cutty colors in the winter sun.
The dry fly fishing was good today on the Mainstem Flathead. We saw a great hatch of capnia stones(tiny winter stones) and midges. Fish were rising from 2pm till almost dark if you looked in the right spots. The Purple Haze performed well over rising fish and got plenty of action when fished blind too. Again, it was spot specific and not river-wide. Just for shits we force fed the skwala to a few too. That’s right, skwala eats on the Flathead today. Was there skwalas out? Hell no, but they ate it anyway. Our Flathead cutties love foamies. It was nice to watch some fish rise.

Foam skwala in the piehole.

Nice day today.

Good job fellas. Just curious where your float was from and to. ?
Thanks! We have been doing most of our fishing between Presentine and Old Steel.
