A respectable Flathead River Trout.

The dry fly fishing on the Main-stem Flathead River has been improving daily. The weather has cooled off and the the river is dropping into a better level for the dry fly bite. The fishing will continue to improve as levels drop and normal temps prevail. A variety of bugs are present right now but not really in good numbers. Caddis, pmds, golden stones, yellow sallies, maybe a few green drakes left.  Fly selection isn’t really that important right now. Just about anything with rubber legs in a size 10 has been getting a fair amount of attention. Droppers have been productive in the AM and in some of the heavier water. Rubber legs and prince variations are great underneath the foam fly. If you find risers clip the dropper and add a pmd cripple or P-chute adams/haze or sally.
