As of yesterday the lower Clark Fork is on Hoot Owl. We haven’t been recommending it for over a week anyway with the water temps reaching over 70 for almost 2 weeks now. Temps are bottoming out in the upper 60s so it’s just a bit too warm to harass the fish right now. It looks like there’s some night time temps dipping into the 40’s next week so it will be back soon. Summer will be over in a blink and fall will be here. The transition usually starts the 3rd week in Aug with a few nights in the 40’s. You can keep tabs on all the MT river restrictions here. It’s hot out there, find some colder water for now.
