What a nice July we’ve been having. 70’s with clouds and moisture! Yes please. Hopefully you had a chance to get out and enjoy the fishy weather and dry fly action we’ve been having the last few weeks. It looks like the heat of summer is around the corner with highs in the 80s and 90s. Cold beers and swim trunks are in the near future.
Blackfoot, Clark Fork, Swan, and Flathead have all been fishing well. Of course a properly presented fly surely helps…
Hopper season is just getting underway. Ants and terrestrials are going to come into play more in the next couple weeks. We’ve got a bunch!
Hopefully the fishing will hang in there as the heat of summer settles in next week. If not, swimming in the lake is a good alternative.

Had a great trip with Ryan Stultz as my guide on the Flathead on 7/7/19. Fishing dry droppers then dries the majority of the trip caught 35 cutthroats, a rainbow, a cutbow and a bull trout. A tremendous day! Ryan worked hard to keep me on fish. Sometimes rowing back upstream if I blew a cast through a likely hotspot. Thanks again Ryan for the best day ever.
Thank you Tom for the awesome day and the shout out! Need some of those home brew flys!
